Multi-Coloured Moons

At the time of publishing this post, I've had three multi-coloured moon orders, so I figured they are now technically a collection, therefore I can justify a blog post dedicated to all of them.

I love the challenge of a multi-coloured moon. To me, they are gorgeous, and they accentuate the light and dark sides of each custom moon phase perfectly. If you're considering a multi-coloured moon, consider this your sign to get on it.

Here are the multi-coloured moons I've painted, from oldest to newest:

SAHIBA'S MOON

This is a moon I was so excited to work on. I had been wondering if anyone would ask for a multi-coloured moon, and Sahiba came through with the first order of this kind.

This is the moon she ordered to gift her sister of her wedding date moon phase, and Sahiba requested it be in her sister's wedding colours; burgundy and golden yellow. We worked a lot on how the two colours would work, and decided on the illuminated sliver be yellow and keep the earthshine all burgundy. It looks so sharp.

KATIE'S MOON

Katie came through and ordered the second multi-coloured moon almost a year exactly after Sahiba. Katie wanted to gift her husband with the exact moon phase from their wedding date, and in their wedding colours; ivory and maroon. Their moon was 98% illuminated, so we went with ivory in the illuminated, and a hot hit of maroon for the 2% shaded slice. It really popped and even though one colour dominated the moon, the high contrast really made up for it.

You can see a sweet photo of Katie and Chris (and their wedding colours) here!

CORA'S MOON:

This order made me ugly-cry. Cora is our eldest daughter and over the 2023 Christmas holidays, she asked me if I'd paint a moon phase for her (💕). I of course said I would - I never like to assume someone wants me to paint a moon phase for them, so I was extra flattered / emo when Cora asked me to paint one for her.

This is the 80% illuminated waning crescent from her birth day. I know her favourite colour is blue, but I wanted to surprise her so I asked what other colours she liked. She pointed out the shades of blue and purple she really liked (as seen on seen on her karaoke machine), so I got to work.

I'm hoping to update this page as more and more multi-coloured moon orders come in, so check back every once in a while if this is your jam.
